Law Enforcement

The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Police Department provides law enforcement services for the Kootenai Tribe’s residents and its operations. The agency, established by the Tribe in 2013, is headquartered on the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Reservation located in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. The Department enforces Kootenai Tribe and federal laws on the Kootenai Indian Reservation. The officers are responsible for a wide variety of duties involving maintaining the peace, and protecting life and property in the community.

The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Police Department is a Community-Based Policing agency which prioritizes interaction and input from the Tribal Community to address issues which affect the lives of its members. The Tribe’s Police Department also cooperates with other local, State, and Federal agencies to provide a comprehensive law enforcement product for the Tribe and its operation.
